Supporting people to Thrive

Welcome to Thrive, an Occupational Therapy service that provides assessments and personalised treatment strategies to support you, your child or young person.

We focus on understanding how you, your child or young person experiences the world and support developmental skills for everyday life.

The heart of our approach

We believe everyone deserves to feel capable, understood and valued. Our role is to help by:

• Assessing needs and abilities.

• Building on strengths.

• Reducing barriers.

• Supporting independence.

• Improving confidence and skills.

How we can support

ADHD Assessments

We are trained and certified in assessing and diagnosing ADHD using the Diva and the Young Diva.
This is a Gold standard* assessment which considers how someone:

•
Organises tasks and activities.
• Manages school and homework.
•
Is able to focus and follow instruction.

The goal isn’t to provide a label, but to understand strengths, challenges, and individual ways of thinking. This helps families, schools and professionals know how best to provide support.

Autism Assessments

We are trained and certified in assessment using the ADOS-2.
This is a Gold standard* assessment which considers how an adult, adolescent or child:

• Communicates and interacts with others.
• Plays, learns and manages daily routines.
• Responds to sensory experiences
like noise, touch or movement.

The goal isn’t to provide a label, but to understand strengths, challenges, and individual ways of thinking. This helps families, schools and professionals know how best to provide support.

Support for
Developmental Coordination
Disorder (DCD)

For people who struggle with coordination, movement or practical tasks, we carry out standardised and non standardised assessment which considers how someone:

• Uses fine motor skills (e.g. writing, using cutlery, fastening buttons).
• Uses gross motor skills (e.g. balance, running, catching).
• Is affected in terms of confidence and independence.

We then create a plan to help build skills in a way that is achievable and supports development at school, work or home.

*As a Gold Standard service we follow NICE Guidelines and NHS standards to ensure we are giving your child the correct assessment and treatment.

What treatment looks like

Following a detailed initial assessment, we offer tailored treatment and practical solutions. Our therapy is tailored to the individual.

Coaching for parents, employees and teachers to optimise results

We work alongside families, schools and workplaces to make sure the support fits real life, not just the therapy room.

  • Thank you so much for writing such a strong and comprehensive letter. I cannot express how grateful I am for your support. For a long time, I have felt completely alone with my concerns. It means the world to me that you took the time to listen, observe him thoroughly, and finally validate my worries as a mother. Your letter is a crucial milestone for A’s future and will be an invaluable piece of evidence for his upcoming EHCP assessment as well. Thank you for being the professional who genuinely cares. Your help has given me a lot of hope and strength.

  • "We would like to express our gratitude to Lorna for her support at the mediation of our EHCP Assessment. As you are aware the council had turned us down for an assessment. At the meeting Lorna gave us excellent support and helped us to express more clearly as to why the decision should be reversed. As a result the council did reverse their decision and are now going to do a needs assessment. We would like to thank Lorna for her professionalism and excellent work."
